Then you will need to adapt your documentation accordingly; after all, documentation forms part of the product, it’s not just a necessary nuisance. Technical documentation needs to be as effective and reliable as a bearing or a motor.

An operating manual must be easy for an operator to read and understand. The directions and instructions should be clear and unambiguous. The technology should be described in a way that makes it understandable, otherwise the manual will soon end up in the drawer and will only be retrieved when there is a problem. By that time it could be too late and physical injury or material damage may already have occurred.
